Whole Wheat Waffles


Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 ¾ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream
  • Syrup
  • Fruit

Directions

  1. Preheat waffle maker on medium-high heat.
  2. Melt better and cool slightly.
  3. Whisk the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl.
  4. Whisk the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl until combined.
  5. Pour into dry ingredients and whisk until combined and no large lumps remain.
  6. Pour ⅓ cup of the batter into each well of the waffle maker, adjusting amount depending on size of waffle well.
  7. Cook the waffles util golden brown and crisp, 5-6 minutes.
  8. (You can keep waffles warm in a 200°F preheated oven until all are finished.)
  9. Serve warm waffles with syrup, whipped cream and your favorite toppings.
