Snickerdoodles
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 Tablespoons sugar (to roll dough in)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (to roll dough in)
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 400ºF.
- Mix sugar, butter, and shortening in a large bowl with a hand mixer.
- Add eggs and mix together with hand mixer until creamy.
- Mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt together in a medium mixing bowl.
- Add flour mixture to the bowl with the sugar, butter and egg mixture.
- Mix with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined. (Chill in fridge or freezer for a few minutes, if time allows.)
- Shape dough into 1 ½-inch balls.
- Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl for rolling balls in.
- Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
- Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
