Chinese Char Siu Roast Pork


Ingredients

  • ½ cup hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup dry sherry
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons minced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 pounds boneless Boston butt pork roast

Directions

  1. Combine first 9 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag.
  2. Trim pork and cut into (2-inch) cubes.
  3. Add pork to bag; seal and marinate in refrigerator 24 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  4. Remove pork from bag, reserving marinade.
  5. Cook meat in marinade in Dutch oven.
  6. Add 1-1 ½ cups water to marinade.
  7. Cook at 300 for 2-2 1/2 hours.
  8. Preheat broiler.
  9. Broil pork 5 minutes or until browned.
  10. Serve on bread.
