Cheese Grits


Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 1.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 c coarse ground cornmeal
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar, shredded

Directions

  1. Place milk, water, and salt into large pot and bring to boil.
  2. Once boiling, add cornmeal gradually while whisking.
  3. Decrease heat to low, cover, whisk every 3-4 minutes for 20-25 minutes until creamy.
  4. Remove from heat, add pepper and butter, whisk to combine.
  5. Whisk in cheese until melted.
