Boiled Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs shrimp
  • Ice or cold water
  • Optional herbs:
    • 3-4 bay leaves
    • 3 tbsp old bay seasoning
    • pinch of cayenne
    • 2 tsp black peppercorns
    • 0.5 garlic head, halved crosswise
    • 5 sprigs fresh parsley
    • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 1 lemon, halved

Directions

  1. Bring large pot half full of water to boil.
  2. If desired, add herbs and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Squeeze and add lemon after simmering.
  4. Add 2 lbs shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, until just barely pink. They may float to the top.
  5. Do not overcook.
  6. Strain out shrimp and rinse with cold water.
  7. De-vein and serve.
